When I brought Muddy to our lives I was 43 years old. I had a change in our life in the sense that we were in the process of moving to a house with a garden. This was a perfect trigger for fulfill my long lived dream of having a dog companion. When I started to look for the best breed for us , I looked from a logical perspective but also from an emotional angle. It was rather quick decision for me to come to famous Irish Terrier!

There was only one glitch. I couldn't find any Irish Terrier puppies in Turkey. After a long process, I discovered British kennel approved breeder concept. I reached to a few Irish Terrier breeders during this process. It was very clear to me that I had to go with Van Leeuwen Irish Terriers. Jean was not only selling a puppy but was bringing a new friend into our lives. He took time to understand our needs, he explained why certain type of puppies are more or less suitable to our unique situation. He really convinced me I had to go with Mr Muddy.

Mr Muddy was the name given to this particular puppy when he was at the kennel but we loved the name so much that we kept it.

Muddy was trained by Jean's brother for 2 months and was ready for our family.

I flew to England to receive Muddy. Both Jean and Debby really took their time to educate me to become a better dog owner. In fact they even took me to the shop to get some basic essentails.

During me three days with Jean I learned more about the breed. It was hard not to when I was surrounded with these great dogs. I learned how to act, how to continue basic training, how to trim, how to feed. I took Muddy on walks and when the day came to take him home I felt ready!

But similar to leaving the hospital after giving birth, one can't fully be ready. Muddy and I understood eachother over time and now I feel he's really my best friend.
