We had wanted an Irish Terrier for a long time but had decided to wait until we were sure we could give the puppy all of our care and attention. This all changed in January 2013 when my husband David was diagnosed with agressive prostate cancer and
discussion regarding a new addition to our family went on hold. David fought as best he could throughout 2013 but when we found out his illness was terminal we all knew the time was right. Not only did David wish to get the chance to know our new puppy, but
we all felt with what was to come, a new life in our household would be a strenght for the rest of us.
We first approached Jean after finding him online. After a few conversations discussing our needs and our situation it was decided that a boy with
a loyal, protective, caring and relaxed nature would be best for us. Jean knew he had just the right puppy for us but believed he would benefit for their maturing programme as it would have been difficult for us to have an untrained puppy in our situation.
Nearer our agreed date Davids health worsened and we had to ask to postpone collection of Reggie. Jean was very accommodating and also felt that this would benefit us in the long run as Reggie could receive extra training and come to us a bit older, and a
little bit wiser.
When the date finally came we were all very excited. Reggie arrived back with us in Essex having slept peacefully the whole journey home. He was clearly a very relaxed little puppy! The training had benefited him greatly, he was excellent
with the family and his calm temperament was allowed to shine through. David was so happy to meet Reggie and he was a great comfort to the whole family through the difficult months ahead.
Reggie is sitting with me now as I write this and I could not
imagine life without him. Thank you to Jean and his family for selecting the perfect boy for us, and we would defintely recommend Jean's set-ep to anyone wanting an Irish Terrier.
